The Grand Hyatt Tokyo will hold “The Light of Happiness,” a charity program from Nov 17 to Dec 25 designed to bring happiness to children in the Tohoku region.
The hotel lobby will be transformed into a Christmas charity area to share the joys of Christmas. There will be three Christmas trees installed, two designed by renowned Japanese artists Yuichi Higashionna and Ruriko Murayama, and one tree, “The Light of Happiness Tree” for hotel guests to decorate.
During this period on Fridays and Saturdays, the hotel will have a reception desk to collect Christmas presents to send to children in Tohoku. For participating guests, Christmas ornaments with handmade message cards will be distributed for guests to write on and hang on the tree. The messages and presents will be sent to children in Tohoku via Kids Earth Fund.
A photo studio, headed up by the hotel’s professional photographer, will be installed so that guests can take photos with the grand Christmas tree. Part of the proceeds from the photo studio will be donated to Kids Earth Fund. There will also be violin and piano performances that will fill the lobby with warm Christmas music.
The hotel will also offer a special accommodation package, “The Light of Happiness Stay,” between Nov 17 and Dec 25, from which 5% of the room revenue will be donated to charity.
In addition, charity hampers in Fiorentina Pastry Boutique filled with favorite Fiorentina items will also be available, from which a part of the revenue will be donated. In restaurants and bars, Christmas ornaments with message cards will be available for 500 yen each. All donations will be sent to Kids Earth Fund to support children in the Tohoku region. Christmas presents and message cards collected will be sent to Tohoku on Dec 22.
